"Believe in Yourself": the student of the year was chosen at BrSU
On December 22 the XVII university-wide competition "Believe in Yourself-2016!" was held for determining "Student of the Year". Ten students from ten Faculties were fighting for the victory. The First Vice-rector of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University Sergey A. Marzan addressed the complimentary speech to the participants of the competition.
The heart rate of the participants had been increasing seven times, as there were seven stages of the tournament, seven demanding challenges in the multifaceted and diverse program.
The first stage of the competition became the self-presentation "My lucky star". The students openly told the audience about themselves and their activities: their success and achievements, life principles, attitudes, beliefs and professional credo.
The stage of the creative practical-oriented concept projects was devoted to the topic of family. The contestants represented their projects in the context of the specific problem fields: some students talked about the large single-parent families, the others investigated the problems of the international families or talked about the student's families. As a homework assignment the participants prepared social videos based on their concept projects.
For the stage "Master Class from us!" the students had to prepare a short theatrical performance showing the advantages and prospects of their faculties or specializations.
Student is, first of all, an intellectual and erudite person, and only then a creative personality. Mental abilities of the participants and the breadth of their horizons were evaluated in the competitions "Three arguments for or against" and "Studiosus sapiens".
The students demonstrated their cohesion and teamwork during the co-creative performance "Dance travel to different countries". That bright, cheerful and dynamic performance became the final chord of the competition.
After the discussion of all performances the competent jury, consisting of the Deputy Deans on Educational Work of all the Faculties, announced the results of the competition. Janina Pribytko, the second year student of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, became "Student of the Year".
All the participants received gifts from the university and the trade union committee of Brest State A.S. Pushkin University. Special prizes were presented to the winners of the competition from such sponsors as the fast food restaurant KFC, the beauty salon "VIVASAN", the cinema "Belarus", the mirror labyrinth "Alice in Wonderland" and the karaoke clubs "Pearl" and "Solo".
Also, all the contestants were awarded in various categories:
- Ekaterina Klimuk (Socio-pedagogical Faculty) won the nomination "The best concept project";
- Vladislav Bondar (Faculty of Philology) – "The best social project";
- Jana Bezuh (Faculty of Foreign languages) – "Multifaceted personality";
- Dariya Petrushko (Faculty of Geography) – "Pleasant acquaintance";

- Irina Baurina (Faculty of Law) – "Harmonious personality";
- Oksana Polyachuk (Faculty of Psychology and Education) – "Worthy successor";
