Brest citizens wrote the Geographical Dictation

On October 27, 2019 the International educational campaign “The Geographical Dictation” was organized. The Department of Geography of Brest State A. S. Pushkin University became a platform for the Dictation for the third time already. In 2019 the Dictation was written by participants from all regions of Russia and 104 countries, including Belarus, Greece, Argentina, Germany, Ukraine, China and many others. Totally 5832 platforms were registered, 9 of them were in our country.

For participation in the educational campaign on the basis of our university more than 40 participants have registered. The interest to take part in the large-scale campaign has united people who are not indifferent: professionals and fans of geography, pupils, students and graduates of our university. Among the participants of the campaign were Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of NAS of Belarus, Maxim Bogdasarov, and Doctor of Geography, Professor, Honorary Doctor of Pushkin State University, Alexander Volchek.

The Dictation consisted of 40 questions divided into two blocks. Each of blocks included questions about knowledge of geographical concepts and terms, check of skills to work with a map, definition of geographical objects according to records of travellers’ diaries and passages from art works, knowledge of history of geographical discoveries.

One of the Dictation's main principles is anonymity. Each participant will be informed about his result at https://dictant.rgo.ru after November 29.
