Foreign Students’ Fest: Quiz “What Do You Know about Belarus?”
On March 2, 2013, a quiz “What do you know about Belarus?” was held within the framework of the Foreign Students’ Festival at Dormitory #1. Two teams competed for the champion's title: “Comet” with Hallyeva Dunyagozel as a team captain and “Luck hunters” headed by Ovezova Saida.
The quiz consisted of 3 rounds. The first round was called “Hometask” during which the contestants’ ability to read correctly and with expression in the Belarusian language was evaluated. The team captains were offered beforehand some poems by classics of the Belarusian literature. It was pleasure to hear quite worthy readings of the Belarusian poetry performed by Turkmen guys.
The second round of the quiz called “Questions and answers” was made up of questions on the Belarusian culture, history and geography. The rivalry between the teams in that round was really close and tense, provided answers to most of the questions were to be given with lightning speed.
The last round “Historical sights of Belarus” turned out to be the most complicated for the contest participants. The teams were to recognize historical and modern sights of Belarus depicted on pictures. The foreign students who had been studying in our country for more than one year showed better results in that round.
Summarizing the results of the three rounds the team “Luck hunters” was declared winner of the quiz. All the contestants were awarded certificates and presented with prizes in the form of sets of postcards with pictures of Brest and Brest Fortress. Performance of the foreign students residing in Dormitory #1 came as a special present to everyone.
