Foreign students’ festival: university contest “I study eloquence”
A university contest “I study eloquence” took place on the 11th of March 2014 as part of the foreign students’ festival. The students of the Faculties of Philology, Law, Physics, Biology as well as the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages participated in it. It has been organized by the Department of the General and Russian Linguistics.
The contest was divided into two stages. On the 1st stage the contestants have presented its show on the topic “There are no dull people in the world”. It were the stories both about the famous historical figures, prominent political and public figures, scientists, athletes, singers and ordinary people, interested contestants, attracted its attention. A special attention on the jury and on the audience made the thoughts of the young speakers about the main role of parents in everyone’s lives.
9 contestants out of 15 entered the finals.
The 2nd stage consisted of two tasks. The 1st one – “Not everybody who reads, feels the power in reading” – it has allowed to evaluate the skills of the contestants in the expressive reading of the unknown text. The 2nd task “a good proverb is hit the nail straight on the head” was to express his understanding of the Russian proverb.
The outcome of the tight struggle has settled the winners of the contest:
1st Place: Ovelekova Soltan, a student of the 3rd course of the Faculty of Physics and Nuryeva Gulshat, student of the 1st course of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
2nd Place: Bekchanov Yunus, a student of the 4th course of the Faculty of Law and Adzharova Maya, student of the 1st course of the Faculty of Philology.
3rd Place: Annaberdieva Shirin, a student of the 2nd course of the Faculty of Philology and Mehraliev Bahtiar, student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, 2nd course.
All the contestants were granted diplomas of the contest “I Study the Eloquence”. The winners will be awarded on the closing ceremony of the foreign students’ festival.
