The Open Competition of Readers “Mysteries of Words and Thoughts – 2020”

On February 26, an open university competition of readers “Mysteries of Words and Thoughts” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Belarusian literature, Vladimir Korotkevich, was held. The annual event was organized by the Chair of Russian Literature and Journalism.

Not only the students of our alma mater, but also students of lyceums, gymnasiums, schools of Brest and Brest region shared the depth of writing and their own thoughts, their hidden, sincere feelings.

The competition traditionally consisted of the performing and author's departments. The performance of the contestants was judged by a competent jury of the lecturers of the Department of Philology. Tatyana Demidovich, Chairman of the Brest branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus, became a guest of the Word Festival.

From a scene sounded works of Vladimir Korotkevich, Jakub Kolas, Arkady Kuleshov, Fedor Tyutchev, Michael Lermontov and other masters of a poetic word.

The author's poems, filled with sincere emotions, clearly conveyed own thoughts of contestants.

While the jury was summing up the results, the students were offered a concert program prepared by the university student club. And Ilya Ogrenich and Daria Ilyuchik, students of the second year of the specialty "Belarusian philology (literary and editorial activity)", conducted a literary quiz on the works of Belarusian classics.

First degree diplomas in the executive department were awarded Stepanchuk Arseniy (secondary school № 27, Brest), Belkevich Anna (gymnasium № 5, Brest), Kisloshchenkova Angelina (Brest State A. S. Pushkin University, Department of Geography); in the author's department – Bondaruk Natalia (Brest Regional Lyceum named after P. Masherov), Polyukhovich Andrey (Brest State A. S. Pushkin University, Department of Geography).

All competitors of the final stage of the competition were awarded diplomas and certificates in certain categories, and the winners received precious gifts.
