With people and for people

“With people and for people” – this is the motto of the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Economic Policy, member of the Council of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Brych. His meeting with students of Brest State A. S. Pushkin University was held on February 17.

In his opening speech, Leonid Grigorievich made a short presentation on the structure of the National Assembly, the tasks that the Commission on Economic Policy faces and the procedure for adopting laws.

The work of Leonid Brych is that the deputy, being in his district, conducts personal reception of citizens, meets with labor and student groups, prepares reports.

The students asked the guest a lot of questions. The cooperation of the parliament with the parliaments of other states, appeals of citizens, views on the modern system of education are the topics that interested the students.

Leonid Brich said that the policy in Belarus is multidirectional, and therefore inter-parliamentary cooperation is developing with many states: Russia, the countries of Central and South-East Asia and others – 72 inter-parliamentary groups have been created in total. During the sixth convocation there were groups on interparliamentary cooperation with Egypt and Sudan.

“At a personal reception, citizens mostly address domestic questions,” said Leonid Grigorievich. “This is the repair and improvement of houses and yard areas, street lighting.” Citizens come not only with a request to solve some problem, but also voiced their suggestions. For example, in January, there were appeals to change the traffic rules.

The guest was also asked about his professional career progression. Leonid Grigorievich said he did not regret the time when he decided to enter the Pinsk Meat and Dairy Technical School. Later it decided his future life. After the army he graduated from the faculty of public catering of Mogilev Technological Institute and worked for many years as a technologist, head of the department of public catering of the department of working supply of “Glavpolesyevodstroy” in Pinsk, director of the Pinsk trust of canteens and restaurants, director of “Nadzeya-Pinsk”, general director of “Beresteisky pekar'” in Brest. At the same time, taking high positions, Leonid Brich has always treated those around him with respect and understanding. “With people and for people” – this is the motto he has developed over the years.

That's confirmed by his good deeds, too. For example, Leonid Brich took part in the campaign “Our Children” and helped financially the family, in which one woman is raising triplets. Leonid Grigorievich believes that a person who has the opportunity to help others, should do so and set a good example to others. These words were supported by the students of BrSU with a storm of applause, because they themselves gladly help people in need of help: orphans, children with special developmental needs, lonely elderly people, and others.

At the end of the meeting Leonid Grigorievich wished students to study hard, purposefulness, work hard to become highly qualified professionals, to be in demand in the labor market and his respectful attitude to the chosen profession to form its positive image.

The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere and turned out to be fruitful.
