Seminar on the results of monitoring of socio-psychological climate in residence halls of the campus and features of adaptation of foreign students to the educational space of the university

On February 18, 2020 on the basis of our university there was held a seminar on the results of monitoring: social-psychological climate in residence halls and features of adaptation of foreign students to the educational space of the university, organized by socio-pedagogical and psychological service of the department of educational work with youth. The participants of this event were deputy deans for educational work, curators of training groups, specialists of the Department of Education, teachers and heads of the campus, specialists of the Department of International Relations, representatives of student councils of residence halls.

Tatyana V. Sokolova, Vice-Rector for Educational Work, in her welcoming speech noted the relevance of the topic under discussion and expressed confidence that it is these diagnostic studies allow timely correction of any work, especially those related to the educational process.

Speaking on the results of diagnostics of socio-psychological climate in residence halls, teacher- psychologist Victoria Tarasyuk described a range of problems that distinguish students: satisfaction with living conditions, organization of life, food and entertainment in the residence hall, the spread of various negative phenomena among students, the attitude to a healthy lifestyle, features of spending free time, etc.

Anna Shivilko, pedagogue and psychologist of social-pedagogical and psychological service, presented the results of monitoring of adaptation of foreign students to living and studying conditions at Brest State A. S. Pushkin University. In her speech she told about the motives of foreign students entering our university, the difficulties they face in the process of adaptation to student life, the specifics of their free time, relationships in the student community, conducted a comparative analysis of the survey results of the current and previous academic year.

During the seminar the features of interaction between Belarusian and foreign students in the academic and extra-curricular time, ways and forms of optimizing the work of curators with the study group were discussed, proposals were made to adjust the planning of educational work with students, the issues of the activity of the head of foreign students to establish discipline in the campus residence halls were considered, etc.

In the final part of the event, all those present were able to express their suggestions on possible ways to solve the problems.
