Student of the Year 2019

The event “Believe in yourself” for the title of “Student of the Year”, which was held on December 19, was attended by ten best students – representatives of all departments.

Rector Anna Sender opened the event. She noted that during the years of its existence the contest has proved its importance: it was popular among students because of its rich content, brightness and unexpected results. For participants the contest gives a real start to conquering new achievements. Anna Sender wished all participants faith in themselves, and willingness to succeed.

Already in the first stage “Let me introduce myself” students presented themselves as an active, versatile personality with certain successes and achievements, as well as introduced to their life principles and views.

Then the participants were informed about the results of the remote stage of the idea-projects on the theme “The University is the Victory Peer”. 2020 will be a landmark event for both Belarus and Brest State A. S. Pushkin University: the 75^th anniversary of the Great Victory and the same number of years since the foundation of our educational establishment.

Another stage was the contest of social video clips “The Property of My Belarus”, which reflected the achievements, traditions, heritage of the country - everything that every citizen of our republic is proud of.

The contest “We walk through the life with a song” was a presentation to the jury of a vocal miniature performance on the motive of the chosen song, where the advantages, prospects and attractiveness of the Department (specialty) should have been shown. The highlight of this stage was the obligatory participation of the representatives of the teaching staff. 

Of course, to become a student of the year can, first of all, an erudite person who is able to do a lot of logical operations, adequately assess various situations, using life experience and accumulated knowledge. The stage of Rapid Response Rhetoric “Think and Explain” as well as the remote intellectual contest “Studiosus sapiens” have shown how well the participants possess the described abilities.

The last stage “In the rhythm of dance” decorated the whole programme: the contest participants, led by senior teacher of the Department of Physical Education Anna Shindina, prepared a wonderful Belarusian polka.

While the jury was summing up the results, the spectators were shown concerts performed by students of the university.

Announcing the results, Vice-Rector for Educational Work Tatyana Sokolova said: “The contest “Believe in yourself” once again proved that our students are the smartest, most talented and creative”. She thanked the participants and their support groups for creating a festive mood. First Secretary of the Brest Regional Committee of the BRSM Yuriy Segeniuk said that all participants spoke at a decent level. The invited guest, correspondent of the television channel “Bug TV” Anastasia Nozdrin-Plotnytskaya (Student of the Year 2015) said that only persistence, efforts and aspirations will help participants to be successful in life.

Vladislav Makarevich, a student of the Department of History, became a student of the year. The other participants of the competition received nominations.

“Image Integrity” – Veronica Drozd (Department of Physics and Mathematics).

“Nice to meet you” – Janina Vetik (Department of Philology).

“Fantastic Charm” – Elizaveta Natyazhenko (Depatment of Psychology and Pedagogics).

“Worthy successor” – Artyom Tomashuk (Department of Physical Education).

“Project of the Year” – Anna Prokopenko (Department of Social Pedagogics).

“Scrabbler and Intellectual” – Denis Misula, (Department of Biology).

“Versatile Person” – Anna Krivetskaya (Department of Foreign Languages).

“Accuracy and depth of thinking” – Ksenia Shakhalevich (Department of Law).

This year prizes were given to all contestants by the university rectorate, trade union committee of students, BRSM committee. Also students received gifts from sponsors: EMS Fitness Studio 7 steps, coffee houses chain, taxi “City”, karaoke club “Zhemchug”, Pizza Italiana.
