We are warmed by friendship: the X Festival of foreign students has ended at BrSU

The gala concert of the X Festival of foreign students was held at the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions on February 28. Its events were held under the motto “We are warmed by friendship!” and lasted two weeks.

At the beginning of the gala concert the song “We Are United” was performed, which has already become a symbol of the Festival. This year the song that everyone loved sounded in a new way – it was accompanied by a video film “Life of foreign students”, which reflected the brightest moments of educational, scientific, creative and sports activities of students. Students of our university are different by nationality and skin color, they have different interests and preferences, but they live together and have fun, help each other in study, spend leisure time together, get acquainted with the cultures of representatives who study at BrSU.

Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Rector of the University Anna Sender addressed to the participants and spectators of the Festival. Anna Nikolaevna noted that the festival of foreign students is always very heartbreaking, because in the events held within its framework, students show their intellectual, creative and culinary skills to the maximum. “There are 700 foreign students in our university. There is a dialogue of cultures that is filled with peace, love and creativity”, she said.

The most important point of the evening was the awarding of winners of various olympiads and competitions. Anna Sender presented the students with rector's gratitude for active participation in creative life of the university and creation of its positive image and diplomas of rector and trade-union committee for active participation in creative life of the university and trade-union organization of students. The winners of “Studying eloquence” oratorical skills competition also received diplomas from the rector.

And Elena Mirskaya, Director of the Institute of Professional Development and Retraining, awarded the winners of the 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd degree diplomas of the university olympiad in Russian language.

During the concert program the students delighted with their creative work. The inspiring dance of Turkmen girls  “Goyberme meni”, national dance group “Serpai”, pop songs, declamation of poem by Shatlyk Sylapov, the original exhibition performance “Wushu” by Chinese student Jiao Jibo and other numbers surprised students with the versatility of their talents.

Belarusian students also shared their creative work. Anna Krivetskaya soulfully sang a song about love to her native country, and Ksenia Shahalevich sang a famous Ukrainian song.

Photo newsreel of the festival varied the concert. Its happy moments gave an impulse to new ideas that are sure to be realized at the Festival next year.

Every year the concert program is decorated with a fashion parade in national costumes. The outfit allows judging about the features of the nation, individual features of the nation, its traditions and well-being.

In the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, the festival organizers and participants could not avoid the military theme because they remember the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War. The song “Blue Handkerchief” was performed from the stage by Maral Velmyradova, Gulaleg Muhadova and Gulendam Tuvakbaeva.

Foreign students and Belarusian students have expressively demonstrated what integral beautiful, exciting programs they manage to create. The festival ended with the performance of the song “We Open Our Wings”. The creative atmosphere that reigns in the university will always be the basis of unbreakable friendship between Belarusian and foreign students.
