Turkmen Ambassador Meets with His Countrymen Studying at Brest Universities
On May 23, 2013, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus M.K.Yazberdiyev and the First Embassy Secretary M.M.Ovezov met with Turkmen nationals studying at the Higher Education Institutions of the city of Brest.
At the beginning of the meeting Turkmen students gave several performances which in fact could be included in any prestigious competition or festival. The performers were met with sincere and lasting ovations.
M.K.Yazberdiyev started his speech with mentioning the fact that Turkmenistan and Belarus are strategic partners who support each other on the international arena. The Ambassador also noted that Belarus is a wonderful country and after graduation students will definitely remember its warmth and hospitality for a long time.
By the way, about 7 400 Turkmen study at Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Belarus, of which 328 students study at Brest State A.S. Pushkin University and 137 – at BrSTU.
The Ambassador also informed all the present students about the recent reforms in the educational system of Turkmenistan. Thus, next year all secondary schools will be shifted from a 10-year into a 12-year learning system, while this year paid education will be introduced at Higher Education Institutions.
The second part of the meeting was held in the form of questions and answers. Students were interested in such matters as peculiarities of the introduction of paid education in Turkmenistan, differential payment for accommodation in accordance with the category of the hall of residence, possibilities of organizing sports competitions for Turkmen students from different Universities of Belarus, of doing practical trainings in Turkmenistan, of simultaneous learning on two specialities, and circumstances under which early examination sitting is allowed, etc.
The meeting turned out to be a constructive dialogue the outcomes of which will help Turkmen students to adapt to a new socio-cultural environment much faster and to improve their performance at the Higher Education Institutions of Brest.
