Open dialogue with philologists

On December 8 the meeting of the students of the Faculty of Philology with Rector, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Professor Anna N. Sender was held at Brest State A.S. Pushkin University.

The event was organized in "the open dialogue" format: Anna Sender gave direct and precise answers to all the questions posed to her. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including the questions about the choice of the profession, what qualities and skills were needed to become the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and to obtain the position of Rector of the university, about the family and hobbies, the principles which were the foundation for the relationship between the academic staff and students.

The Students were interested in such youth topical issue as the employment opportunities abroad. Anna Sender dispelled the illusions about the immediate acquisition of the decent housing abroad, decent salaries, etc. As an example, the Rector told about her trip to Switzerland, having illustrated the exaggeration of social guarantees in Europe. The story of Anna Sender demonstrated to the students that the activity of the Rector was based on the verified civic position and sincere devotion to her country. The Rector said, "When we were leaving Switzerland, we had been invited to visit that country again, but I answered, that it would be better if they came to our Belarus".

Then the conversation turned to the core issues of the students. Anna Sender assured that everyone, who would graduate from BrSU, would get his first job and the university administration would provide all possible assistance. The Rector answered the question of the first year student about the anxiety before the first semester, "This period for you is the period of adaptation. Therefore, the academic teachers will comprehend the situation of the students and will have understanding for them. However, it does not allow the students to evade their responsibility to learn diligently and hard from the outset, as to be the student of the Faculty of Philology is not only very honorable at BrSU, but it bears high responsibility".

The meeting with the Rector, held at the Faculty of Philology, has demonstrated once more the concern and care of the university administration about their students.
