Miss Faculty of Biology 2013

On March 27, 2013, third beauty contest “Miss Faculty of Biology 2013” took place. Five completely different but striking and pretty contestants did their best to win the hearts both of the audience and jury. It is worth mentioning that a young lady from Turkmenistan Gulmira Dovletova also participated in the contest.

It was a top level event. The sponsors of the event were among those present, they were representatives of Brest Environmental Information Center “Ecodom”, Internet-Portal “Virtual Brest”, Internet Radio Start, BrSU Students’ Primary Trade-Union Organization, Brest City Committee of the Primary Organization “Belarusian Republican Youth Union”, as well as Council of Students’ Self-Government and Dean’s office of the Faculty of Biology.

This year the contest consisted of six rounds. In the first round – “Visiting card” – the contestants introduced themselves to the audience.

The next round called “Image” was held in the form of a fashion parade. Each contestant was to prepare and demonstrate a national costume of any country. During this round one could see costumes from all over the world: Egypt, Turkmenistan, France, Japan, India!

Then the organizers of the event decided to check whether the girls would be able to advertise various things having a few minutes’ time only and held the next round called “Commercial break”. It should be mentioned that all the girls did well in this round.

During the fashion parade “A sound mind in a sound body” the contestants demonstrated costumes from certain kinds of sports. The girls approached the task with some creativity: in order to create a perfect and bright image they used sports equipment.

An intellectual quiz “Wise thoughts” turned out to be unusual for the contestants – this year they were offered some statements by famous people. The task was to either agree or disagree with the quotation reasoning the opinion with 3 arguments “in favour” or “against”.

The final round of the contest was held in the form of the fashion parade in evening dresses which was called “Evening charm”. The contestants were able to demonstrate their hairstyles and make up suiting their images, as well as their deportment on the stage.

And finally the culmination was approached. The Chairman of the jury, Dean of the Faculty of Biology Vladimir I. Boyko appeared on the stage. He shared some of his impressions with the audience.

And then the results came. The winners of the contest “Miss Faculty of Biology 2013” were announced in the following nominations:

Svetlana Benedisyuk – «Miss Originality 2013», 

Gulmira Dovletova – «Miss Charm 2013»,

Polina Izbitskaya – «Miss Grace 2013», 

Mariya Senkovets – «Vice-Miss Faculty of Biology 2013».

The title “Miss Faculty of Biology 2013” went to Darya Mazurova, 1^st year student with specialization in “Bioecology”.

The winner and nominees of the contest were awarded with certificates and prizes from our sponsors. This year the Faculty of Biology was provided with great and significant sponsor help by various organizations of Brest. Thus, the contestants were presented with eco-friendly bags by Brest Environmental Information Center “Ecodom”, while Svetlana Benedisyuk was given a book. The winner got an opportunity to give a live interview on the Internet Radio Start. The representative of the regional Internet-Portal “Virtual Brest” Yulia Kuharchik presented two girls who in her opinion stood out against the rest with really royal prizes: Gulmira Dovletova got 150.000 BLR on her mobile phone account while Polina Izbitskaya was given a possibility to make a professional portfolio to the sum of 600.000 BLR. The girls received amazing ribbons from Brest City Committee of the Primary Organization “Belarusian Republican Youth Union”. BrSU Students’ Primary Trade-Union Organization awarded the young ladies with personal organizers and photo frames. The representatives of the Dean’s office presented the winners with flowers, Mariya Senkovets – «Vice-Miss Faculty of Biology 2013» - was given a hairdryer, while “Miss Faculty of Biology 2013” Darya Mazurova got an electric kettle.

At the end of the event the hosts expressed gratitude to those people who made the contest so bright and memorable and thanks to whom the contest took place. Those were of course all the sponsors, as well as Ekaterina I. Gurina, Assistant Dean on educational affairs of the Faculty of Biology, who was a supervisor of the whole event, and Kristina Osipuk, a professional model who trained the contestants for amazing fashion parades. We are also very appreciative of the services of professional photographers (especially Alexey Maur) and newspaper reporters who attended the event. Special gratitude was expressed to Yana Butskevich and Sergey Polyachuk (Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogics), Ekaterina Punko (Faculty of Foreign Languages), Irina Zamulko (Faculty of History) and Timur Baykenov (Faculty of Biology) for their songs performed in between successive rounds of the contest, as well as to Anna Ivaschenko (Faculty of Philology) and Sergey Zayko (Faculty of Law) for the lively dances. The words of thanks were also addressed to the 4^th year students of the following specialties: “Bioecology” (Viktoriya Neyfeld, Olga Vorobyova, Yulia Yuhimuk, Dmitriy Pylypiv and Anna Sukasyan), “Biology” (Kirill Panasyuk) and “Biology. Chemistry” (Andrey Yanushkevich) for their help in organizing and holding the event.
